An authentic Georgian period highboy or tall chest of drawers was hand crafted of solid figured walnut about 1760 in America.
The old finish is in very fine condition, and has been waxed and buffed, so all that is needed to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. There are numerous warps and shrinkage separations from age, see photos.
Drawers have hand cut dovetail joint and chamfered bottoms. Pulls appear original, locks are missing. The original rough sawn back is attached with cut square nails. The top has dovetail joints connecting the sides, and is not well finished, because people were shorter and the top would not have been usually seen. There are restorations to the feet.
Dimensions are 43" wide tip to tip, 24" deep and 63" tall.
