Adam & Eve 1830's Antique Child's Needlework Sampler

This needlework "sampler" was made by a young girl and shows amazing skill.

Painstakingly embroidered on linen, this exquisite 1830's antique textile includes an enchanting depiction of Adam and Eve with the serpent and tree of forbidden fruit. There are many other themes as well, plus the alphabet in lavish old English script.

The background is natural linen with some stains and holes. Colors are still vivid on this work of American folk art.

A maple frame is about 60 years old, and measures 23" wide and 18 1/2" tall overall.
