A genuine "coromandel" six panel screen was hand crafted in China by painting many coats of colored lacquer, topping in black and then delicately carving down to the colors underneath.
About 75 years old, this traditional technique is beautiful. Squares of genuine gold leaf form the background of a summer palace and garden scene. The back side is a classic garden scene against a satiny black ground.
There are rough edges, crackling from age and touchups to this Asian work of art, see photos. Feet are brass.
Panels are 16" wide, 1" deep and just over 6' tall, so the screen is 8' wide if flat on a wall, if partially folded as shown, about 6' wide.
