Chinese Camphor Wood Trunk, Dowry Chest or Coffee Table, Carved Ship Motif
A trunk or dowry chest was expertly hand carved in China about 75 years ago. The ship motif suggests that the chest was carved for a seafaring family.
Aromatic camphor wood resists insects, like our cedar wood. The restored finish is in excellent condition on this deeply sculpted furniture. There is a tray for silks inside, the brass latch is hand engraved.
Measurements are 37" long, 19" deep and 18" tall.
