A Union Civil War officer wears a dress sash and gloves for his portrait about 1860 in "Daguerrotype" or "tintype" format.

The engraved and gold plated inner and outer mats, velvet liner and glass are all original to the embossed "gutta percha" or vulcanized rubber frame. There are repairs to the outer frame that are visible on the backside, see photos.

Size of this historic American antique photo is 6 1/2" x 5 1/2" overall.
