This style of console or pier table was called a "petticoat" table in the American south, the lower mirror was used to adjust petticoats under large skirts.
This lovely furniture was hand crafted in France in the middle 1800's, and has a marble top with a few chips at the edges, see photos. The very well preserved finish appears original on gorgeous rosewood with subtle inlaid marquetry.
A "secret" drawer under the marble has oak sides joined with hand cut dovetails. The mirror has just enough "smoke" to show its age.
Size of this palatial antique is 45" wide, 18" deep and 37 1/2" tall.
