An authentic Country French sideboard and china cabinet has a bar cabinet and a clock as well. Hand carved of solid oak about 60 years ago in France, this large and elegant vintage furniture is imposing.
The top of the base has been revarnished for durability, the rest of the finish is original and very well preserved. The bar cabinet has glass shelves and lights when the door is opened.
An exquisite clock has an engraved face with the traditional "Tempus Fugit" or Time Flies inscription. Chains wind the brass movement, which runs about 3 days on a winding and keeps accurate time. Quarter hours have the familiar Westminster chime tune, plus the hour is counted and struck. Pendulum and weights are brass.
Raised panels and delicate detailing is artistic. Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and curved fronts. Door locks and keys work, embossed hardware is original. The upper section is removable for easier delivery.
This clock needs to be "set up" when delivered - weights and pendulum attached and the case leveled. Most of our customers can do this as we walk them through the fairly simple steps by phone. The process is not very difficult, and it is also nice to know how to do this again whenever the clock needs to be moved for cleaning, painting or whatever. A few customers prefer to hire a local clockmaker at their own expense to make a house-call and set up the clock, which is usually not very expensive, depending on your location.
Measurements are 8' 8" wide tip to tip, 21" deep and 7' 7" tall to the top of the graceful shell shaped crest.
