A charming writing desk was hand crafted in England about 1920 of mahogany and has a secret file with inkwells. Signed "Waring & Gillow, Lancaster," this famous luxury furnishings maker was founded in 1730.
The restored finish is in excellent condition on this sophisticated library furniture. Gold tooled leather panels and original cast brass hardware are authentic. The original shaped and beveled mirror has a little antique "smoke" to show its age, there are chips on the inkwells, see photos. Drawers have solid mahogany sides with tiny hand cut dovetail joints.
Measurements are 48" wide, 26" deep, 40" tall and the writing surface is 29" high.
