A classic Georgian period 1825 country pine tall case or "grandfather" clock is in wonderful condition. The mellow pine case has a beautiful finish with just enough antique patina and character - there are mars, wear and shrinkage separations from age. Every surface is hand planed, there has been rebuilding to the base.
Behind wavy old glass in the door, the original hand painting on the dial is very well preserved, depicting a hunt scene and flowers. There is a signature "R. Nelson, Bainbridge." A historic town of picturesque stone cottages in north Yorkshire, Bainbridge is in the Dales near a national park in northern England.
Professionally cleaned, oiled and regulated, the 8 day brass movement keeps excellent time, the calendar does not work. The engraved brass pendulum is the same age but not original to the clock.
Measurements of this historic furniture from Great Britain are 22" wide, 11" deep and 85" tall.
