German Tall Case Oak 1920 Grandfather Clock

Expertly crafted about 1920, this tall or long case "grandfather" clock is all original. The double arrow trademark was used by the "Hamburg American Clock Co." of Hamburg, Germany from 1882-1926.

The fine grained oak case has its original finish, which is very well preserved. Waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain its warm luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.

The brass dial, pendulum and weights are intact. Door glass is beveled and the dial glass is convex on this antique European furniture. The brass movement runs a week on a winding by pulling the chains and keeps accurate time. A two note resonant chime strikes the half and counts the hour.

This clock needs to be "set up" when delivered - weights and pendulum attached and the case leveled. Most of our customers can do this as we walk them through the fairly simple steps by phone. The process is not very difficult, and it is also nice to know how to do this again whenever the clock needs to be moved for cleaning, painting or whatever. A few customers prefer to hire a local clockmaker at their own expense to make a house-call and set up the clock, which is usually not very expensive, depending on your location. 23 1/2" wide x 12" deep x 77 1/2" tall
