"La Chasse a l'Aigle," or The Hunt of the Eagle, this Art Deco 1930 period dramatic sculpture is signed "J. de Roncourt." A bold work of art in spelter or white metal alloy, this statue has a deep bronze verdigris finish.
There is no damage that we see except that the spear is replaced on this three dimensional heroic art from France. The base is famous "Nero Porturo" black and gold marble from Italy, there are minor chips as shown, also on the pedestal under the figures foot. Very little is known about Jean de Roncourt, but his body of work places him as one of the greatest master sculptors of the male figure in his day. Measurements are 32" long, 11" wide and 29" tall overall.
