Italian Antique 1870 Canopy Bed, Hand Carved Oak Gargoyles, Spiral Columns
A spectacular canopy bed was hand carved of wormy oak with spiral columns and gargoyles in Italy about 1870.
The original finish is very well preserved and has been waxed and buffed, so all that is needed to maintain the warm luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. There are shrinkage separations from age on this antique furniture. The canopy is newly upholstered. Iron bolts secure this bed together.
A custom mattress and spring unit measuring about 52" x 75" would be required, the demonstrator bedding is 17" thick. Wood support members as shown are included.
Measurements are 82" long, 62" wide and 8' tall.
