A spectacular 8 panel Chinese screen from about 20 years ago is by famous maker, "Maitland Smith."
An imperial palace and garden are hand carved into the stippled and crackled panels. The dark gold finish and hand painted background are artistic on this vintage designed furniture.
The back side is traditional "Coromandel" technique. Many layers of colored lacquer are topped in black, which is hand carved down to various colors to "reveal" the bamboo and bird motif design.
Each panel is 22" wide, 1" deep and 7' tall, so if stretched out flat, length is 14' 8." If folded slightly accordion style, width is about 12.'
