This 1900 era statue portrays a young woman who appears to have just dropped her water jug as she stands barefoot, holding the corner of her apron.
Signed by the sculptor, "J. Causs" and "Made in France," she is mounted with leaves and two light bulbs as a newel post lamp to light a staircase.
This work of art is "spelter," a white metal alloy similar to pewter that still has its original dark bronze colored patina.
The lamp has been rewired, etched glass shades are later on this antique light. There is a foundry mark on the base, also tiny hairlines near the hole for the electric wire on the back side, see photos.
Size of this sculpture is 13" across and 19" tall.
