This sculpture signed by "John Rogers of NY, 1880," captures a famous scene from the Merchant of Venice play by Shakespeare with Shylock uttering his famous line, "Is it so nominated in the bond?" He is surrounded by Antonio, Bassanio and Portia, who has a restored thumb.
The statue is reinforced "chalk" or plaster composition. There are numerous touchups to the original painted finish on this American made work of art.
Dimensions are 21" wide, 13" deep and 23" tall.
