A set of English dinner size sterling silver flatware in the fiddle, thread and shell pattern for 12 was assembled by the Marshall Field antiques department about 60 years ago.
Included are twelve each of dinner size knives with later stainless steel blades, forks and spoons. There are various London marks from the 19th Century, attributed variously to "Wm Chauner, Mary Chauner, Geo. Angell from 1825-1843" plus some family crests as shown on this very heavy hand made cutlery.
Forks measure 8 1/4" long, total weight is about 37 troy ounces.
Spoons are 6 3/4" long and weigh approx. 23 troy ounces.
Knives have a family crest and are attributed to "Wm Eley and Wm. Fearn, London, 1823," and measure 10 3/4" long.
A modern silver chest is included with these British antiques.
