Statue of Roman Soldier on Horseback Sculpture

This Victorian "action figure," is a sculpture of a Roman soldier mounted on a rearing horse. It dates from about 1890. This historic statue has exceptional detail in spelter, a white metal alloy similar to pewter.

Roman-style laced sandals on his feet, the warrior gestures above a dropped shield and quiver of arrows. We see no damage, the finish has beautiful patina and just enough wear for a little antique character.

Mounted on a slab of marble, this American work of art conveys bravery and romance. Dimensions are 16" long, 6" wide and 16" tall.
