A sculpture of "The Mariner" is signed "X. Raphanel," and is cast in spelter, a white metal alloy with original hand painted bronze and green tones.
This action statue depicts a ship captain concentrated on rough seas, and dates from the early 1900's. Xavier Raphanel lived 1876-1957 in France, and has works of art in numerous museums and collections. There are minor restorations on this bold antique from France.
Size is 9" x 11" and 26" tall.
