An authentic Victorian era wicker platform rocking chair dates from about 1895. Still strong and usable furniture, the hand made wicker remains resilient.
The "platform" or stationary rocker was developed to avoid the gradual traveling that happens with runner style rockers. There are chips to the paint plus various wicker pieces broken and missing, see photos.
The relaxed angle of this American antique is comfortable. Size is 26" wide, 35" deep, 48" tall and the seat is 17" high.
