A lovely original Victorian era portrait in oil on canvas is a beautiful work of art, dating from the very early 1900's. Included is a photograph of the subject, Bernice Wisnam, with her sisters that is dated 1905.
The painting is unsigned, and according to family lore was done by an artist "Harry Pruitt, 1853-1935," but there is no proof or documentation for this claim. A beautiful antique frame in faux tortoise, walnut and burnished gold is actually earlier, from about 1870.
The artwork shows great skill and subtlety, capturing her shyness and delicacy. Overall size of the American antique frame is 15" wide and 17" tall, the photograph is 6" x 8" as mounted.
This piece can be shipped with insurance, USPS within the Continental US for $25.00.
