An authentic Country French or Provincial armoire was hand carved of solid fruitwood about 1790. The satiny finish is excellent with just enough antique patina for a little character - see photos for mars at the edges and shrinkage separation. The fruitwood has old wormholes - typical of European furniture from the 1700's
At the top, a well proportioned crown is removable for easier handling. Front doors have been lined in oak a few years ago, probably at the same time the removable oak shelves and supports were added. Joints have original carved square wooden pegs. Wrought iron hinges and escutcheons are also original on this gracious historic furniture from central France.
The key is a handle only, the lock is incomplete. Matched and shaped door panels have especially lovely figured grain. Rear legs have been expertly rebuilt, as is fairly typical.
Measurements of this imposing antique are 64" wide, 27" deep and 102" tall.
