From the late Victorian or Eastlake period about 1880, this "slipper" bench was used to sit on while buttoning and unbuttoning high top shoes.
Slippers fit in a compartment under the seat cushion, which is newly upholstered in natural saddle leather. American made antique furniture in solid walnut, intricate carving and piercing is beautiful. The restored finish is in excellent condition.
Size is 22" long, 13" deep and 18" tall.
