An original Dutch watercolor painting on paper depicts villagers standing near architectural ruins with a statue of St. John in the Tyrol region of Austria.
The artist, Willem Cornelis Rip, was a Dutch painter belonging to the Hague School, also known as the Gray School. Known for his use of somber colors, Rip(1856-1922) specialized in genre and landscape paintings.
Overall size is 24" wide, 17.5" tall and 2" deep.
