American Empire Antique 1840 King Size Mahogany Plantation Poster Bed

Authentic American Empire period furniture from about 1840, this spectacular king size bed was said to be from a southern plantation.

The deep satiny finish is in excellent condition. Four deeply turned posts were hand made from single blocks of solid mahogany over 5" square. The side rails have been expertly adapted and framed inside as shown to fit modern standard king size spring units and a mattress. Bolts secure the frame tightly together on this American made furniture.

The headboard has a raised panel, the right foot end post has a warp, see photos.

Measurements of this boldly scaled antique are 84" wide, 90" long and 85" tall.
