Signed "Sligh of Holland, Mich," a traditional long case or grandfather clock from about 25 years ago has a traditional solid cherry case with inlaid banding and "wavy" glass door pane. The original hand rubbed finish is in extremely fine condition on this American made vintage furniture, "Model 0833-1-SC."
The brass movement keeps excellent time, running a week on a winding. The familiar Westminster chime melody plays on each quarter hour and counts the hour as well on nine deeply resonant chime tubes. A lever also plays St. Michaels and Whittington chime tunes or silent.
Brushed brass weights, mounts, pendulum and winding crank are all original.
Measurements are 31 1/2" wide, 15" deep and 93" tall.
This clock needs to be "set up" when delivered - weights and pendulum attached and the case leveled. Most of our customers can do this as we walk them through the fairly simple steps by phone. The process is not very difficult, and it is also nice to know how to do this again whenever the clock needs to be moved for cleaning, painting or whatever. A few customers prefer to hire a local clockmaker at their own expense to make a house-call and set up the clock, which is usually not very expensive, depending on your location.
