Chinese Coromandel Hand Painted Lacquer Vintage 6 Panel Screen, Gold Leaf
A six panel screen from China is genuine "Coromandel," a technique of carving into many layers of different colored lacquer to create an intricate design.
The front is summer palace scene, the background is shimmering genuine gold leaf. A traditional garden scene is on the back side with birds and flowers. About 60 years old, there are numerous touchups to this work of art over the years. There is a gap between two panels at the bottom, see photos.
Six panels measure 15" wide, 1" deep and 6' tall, so when stretched flat, width is 8' overall, when accordion folded as shown, width is about 6 1/2.'
