A spectacular solid mahogany round dining table extends with five leaves, and was hand-made by one of America's finest makers, "Colby's Hand-made, Founded 1866." Colby was probably the finest furniture maker in Chicago until the 1920's, when they discontinued cabinetmaking and became retail stores only.
Eighteenth Century Georgian furniture designs like this are called "Adam" after the three famous Scottish architects and designers to royalty.
The deep rich gleaming finish is excellent. Tapered legs are fluted and understated carving includes oval medallions, all in exquisite proportions.
Superior quality in every way, the five original 12" wide leaves have matching carved aprons or skirts and fit beautifully, with locks underneath. When extended, a pair of concealed legs drop at both ends for extra stability as shown.
Dimensions of this historic American antique are 60" diameter, 29 1/2" tall, legroom is 24 1/2" high, and total length is just over 10' with all 5 leaves in place.
