Originally a "rope" bed from about 1840, this nostalgic country bed has been adapted to fit a standard modern full or double size mattress as shown in photos.
Hand-made of cherry, maple and oak, the finish is very fine with warm patina, it has lots of wear and character. This poster bed has wooden pegs on the end rails where ropes originally supported a featherbed.
Strong and very usable, the sides are modern steel rails, and a pallet or "bunky board" is included so no separate spring unit is needed, just a mattress as shown in photos.
Said to be from Pennsylvania, this charming American antique furniture measures 7' long, 53" wide and almost 54" tall to the top of the acorn shaped finials.
