Empire Antique 1835 Console & Game Table

Authentic American Empire furniture from about 1835, this is one of the most graceful and elegantly proportioned console or game tables we have ever seen. The flip and swivel top can be opened against the wall in console position, or it makes a square table for playing games. Underneath is a "secret" compartment for gaming pieces or cards.

The silken finish enhances gorgeous highly figured mahogany, inside is a charming hand-cut plug in the top. Hand-cut dovetails are visible on the back of the frame. There are small shrinkage separations in the base. The substantial column is tapered on this gracious furniture, said to be from Baltimore.

Closed measurements are 39" wide, 19" deep and 29 1/2" tall, open size is about 38" x 39."
