Empire Antique 1835 Recamier or Chaise Lounge

Hand crafted of flame grain mahogany during the American Empire period about 1835, this "recamier" or chaise lounge is in beautiful condition.

Named after a Napoleonic painting of the beautiful Mme. Recamier relaxing on such a lounge, this is rare and gracefully curved furniture. There have been repairs and touchups, the finish is excellent and upholstery is recent. Removable brass wheels are original.

Said to be from New York, size of this historic antique is 6' 3" long, 26" deep, 35" tall and the seat is 18" high.
