English 1890 Antique Handkerchief Game Table, Secret Compartment

Hand carved of solid mahogany about 1890, an English "handkerchief" folding game table has a secret compartment under one lid.

The satiny finish is in excellent condition, enhancing the figured tops, both cut from a single wide plank. There are minor mars and shrinkage separations from age on this understated furniture that shows George II design.

A gateleg swings out to support the drop leaf. The secret compartment locks with a key, and is located under the top of this strong and very usable antique.

Size with the dropleaf down is 37" wide, 19" deep and 28" tall, with the drop raised, the top measures almost 27" square.
