An English folding stand was made for a large folio, book or collection of drawings or prints. Solid oak furniture, the top is inlaid with old gold-tooled leather.
Signed "McLaughlan Patent," this Victorian period solid oak table dates from about 1880. The finish is very fine with warm antique patina and enough character - mars, wear and touchups - to show its age.
There is a gear mechanism to open both sides simultaneously, porcelain casters are original.
Closed dimensions of this charming library antique are 32" long, 18" wide and 41" tall, when open, size is 48" wide, 32" deep and 28" tall.
