The famous "Atmos" clock is an engineering marvel, this remarkable timepiece from about 25 years ago operates solely on changes in barometric pressure, and keeps excellent time.
It is signed by the renowned Swiss maker, "Jaeger Lecoulter," also known for the $10,000 "Reverso" watch. The brass case has original polished lacquer in excellent condition. A lever secures the spinning "pendulum" when moving the clock. A button on the front glass opens to set the time.
Exquisitely machined, the exposed movement is visible inside. Every surface and screw inside is carefully hand polished to perfection. A glass bubble level on the base makes it easy to adjust the feet to level. Power to operate this vintage clock comes from a diaphragm in the rear cylinder that moves when barometric pressure changes. The principle was developed in the 1930's as a form of "perpetual motion machine."
These clocks have often been presentation and diplomatic gifts. The case measures 8 1/2" wide, 7" deep and 9" tall.
