This solid mahogany Chippendale style lowboy, dressing table or console is signed by famous maker, "Kindel," from their authorized "Winterthur" collection after the Dupont family home in Delaware, now a world renowned museum.
The original piece was made in Philadelphia in 1769 as a companion to a high chest of drawers. Kindel’s reproduction reflects forty-three hours of precise hand carving to achieve the look of the original.
This stunning example of rococo carving justifies the recognition of this dressing table as one of the great objects from Philadelphia’s Chippendale school of cabinetmakers.
The satiny restored finish is in excellent condition, elaborate brasses are authentic on drawers with dovetailed joints. American made vintage furniture from about 25 years ago, claw and ball feet are well proportioned.
