Because of the pull out shelf where a landlady could bring supper to a single gentleman, this style of dresser was called a "bachelor's" chest, from the days when men couldn't cook for themselves.
The deeply serpentine front is dramatic on this traditional hall or linen chest from about 40 years ago, signed by premier maker, "Union National of Jamestown, NY."
Mahogany with matched and banded drawerfronts, the restored finish is in excellent condition. American made vintage furniture, pulls are original.
Size is 37" wide, 20" deep and 32 1/2" tall.
