Rope 1840 Antique Bed, Fits Double Mattress

Originally a "rope" bed made for a feather mattress about 1840, this "cannon ball" poster bed has been adapted to fit a standard modern full or double mattress as shown.

American made furniture, the knobs where the rope "spring" was stretched and secured.

The hand made poplar and cherry hardwood frame has an excellent finish with warm antique patina. Original wooden rails have been extended and we have furnished a plywood pallet or "bunky board" to use instead of a spring unit under the mattress.

Measurements of this charming New England bed are 54" wide, 84" long, the headboard is 49" tall and the footboard is 42" high.

The standard full mattress used for the photos is 10" thick.
