This early version of the pump reed organ is called a melodeon, and has a gorgeous rosewood case. It is in wonderful playing condition.
Patented most recently in 1856 by "Carhart's," the ivory keys are almost mint. The satiny finish is excellent on all sides, and genuine rosewood like this is certainly one of the most beautiful woods in the world.
Apparently, there was outstanding restoration work done on the bellows and mechanism of this antique melodeon, it plays very well and evenly, and the left "swell" pedal increases the volume as it should.
When not in use, the instrument folds into a table. Size when closed is 47" wide, 24" deep and 32" tall. A-M391
