Rustic Chinese Cabinet with Open Top, Secret Storage

Beautifully made by a country carpenter about 100 years ago, this Chinese cabinet has a secret compartment in the floor inside. Skillful joinery and delicately carved decoration show traditional countryside design. Note flaws to one side - see photos. The finish is a deep red brown transparent lacquer that lets the beautiful ash wood grain show through.

The hand made hardware mounts are brass, and everything is hand planed. This antique furniture piece is heavy and solid, and could have many uses. Size is 53" wide, 23" deep and 6'9" tall.
