An elegant dropleaf lamp or end table from the Empire period about 1820 could be a nightstand as well. A renewed finish flatters the glorious flame grain mahogany, top and drops are cut from single wide planks.
The scallop carved pedestal is striking. Two drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and chamfered bottoms, the key is also a handle. Both locks work on this American East Coast antique furniture.
Size with dropleaves down is 20 1/2" wide, 24" deep and 28 1/2" tall, with both leaves raised width is 42 1/2" overall.
