A classic Federal period solid cherry secretary desk was hand crafted about 1820 in the eastern U.S.
The restored finish is in excellent condition with warm antique patina. There are shrinkage separations from age, see photos. The locking drop front rests on pull out supports, inside are tiny drawers and cubicles for papers.
Drawers and upper corners have hand cut dovetail joints. Hand planing marks are visible everywhere on this historic furniture. Brasses appear replaced and block feet rebuilt about 100 years ago.
Measurements are 41" wide, 20" deep and 42" tall, the desktop is 32" high.
