Victorian 1860's Walnut Bookcase, Pull out Desk

Beautiful classic Victorian design is rare to find, and this is an exceptional bookcase secretary desk.

This bookcase has the original arched wavy glass doors and a pull-out desk with an adjustable leather top. Hand-made of solid walnut in the 1860's Civil War era, the upper section has shelves adjustable on wooden supports.

The center drawer opens to reveal small compartments for inkwells and stationery, the writing surface raises on an adjustable easel. All drawers have expertly hand-cut dovetails and original wooden pulls. The satiny finish is superb with warm patina on this understated American antique.

Two separate pieces for easier handling, this is well-proportioned and beautifully scaled furniture. Size is 5' 2" wide, 20" deep, 7' 10" tall and the leather writing area is 30" high at the front edge, and can slope up as adjusted.
