This Classic Arts and Crafts design 1900 era tall case or grandfather clock is from Germany. The original finish is very well preserved with minor mars at the edges. Hand carved details are understated, brass dial and pendulum are original, there is wear to the painted numerals, see photos.
The brass 8 day spring movement has been oiled and keeps excellent time, striking the hour and half on a resonant chime which is signed "Dom Gong" or Cathedral Chime. Waxed and polished, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm patina.
This clock needs to be "set up" when delivered - weights and pendulum attached and the case leveled. Most of our customers can do this as we walk them through the fairly simple steps by phone. The process is not very difficult, and it is also nice to know how to do this again whenever the clock needs to be moved for cleaning, painting or whatever. A few customers prefer to hire a local clockmaker at their own expense to make a house-call and set up the clock, which is usually not very expensive, depending on your location.
Size is 22" wide, 12" deep and 75" tall.
