This solid walnut Eastlake or late Victorian furniture secretary desk is from about 1885. The old finish is very fine with warm patina and enough mars and stains for a little antique patina. There is a shrinkage separation from age on the lower right side, see photos.
Inside are small cubicles, a tiny drawer and numerous India ink stains. Incised "spoon" carving is charming. The lower drawer has "pin and cove" dovetails of the period.
American made and quite solid, size is 30" wide, 16" deep, 55" tall and the writing surface is 29 1/2" tall.
