An Empire period secretary desk with bookcase top was hand made about 1830 during the Empire period. Matched flame grain mahogany has an excellent deep finish, tapered columns are classic.
Embossed brasses are original on this furniture from the East Coast. Drawers have hand dovetailed joints. The flip open desk is inlaid with natural saddle leather.
Bookcase doors have original wavy glass, the upper section is separate for easier moving. There are no working keys, the key in the upper doors is a handle only.
Measurements are 45 1/2" wide at the crown, 20" deep, 77" tall and the desk top slopes up from 31" high at the front.
