This bronze sculpture of "Fortuna," Roman goddess of fortune, is a century old antique copy of the original statue by Giambologna, now in the National Museum, the Bargello, in Florence, Italy.
The dark chocolate patina is gorgeous, with very little wear. There are small chips on the black marble column base of this work of art from about 1900.
The original was sculpted about 1565. Born in France as Jean Boulogne, the artist achieved his greatest success in Italy and Italianized his name. Known as the bridge between Renaissance greats, Michelangelo and Bernini, he created sculpture in bronze and marble for popes and Medicis alike.
Height of this famous work is just over 28" overall.
The companion bronze, "Mercury," in the photo is priced separately, call or email for availability.
