Hand carved of solid oak in France about 1870, a magnificent classical bookcase has fluted columns with Ionic capitals. The original finish is very well preserved on this antique furniture. Waxed and polished, all that is needed to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Shelves adjust on wooden supports.
This historic library bookcase is two separate pieces that bolt together with joining blocks. Unless a floor is perfectly straight, shims are usually needed to align the two halves together. There are slight shadows from where the shelves were last adjusted and a few of the sawtooth brackets are missing, see photos.
Measurements are 13' 6 1/2" wide, 18" deep and 65" tall.
