French Signed & Dated 1802 Antique Hand Stitched Sampler, Framed

This exquisite hand stitched sampler is inscribed: "Cete Marque Appartient (this mark belongs to) Marguerite Bertran agee de 11 Ans (Aged 11 Years) Jan. 1802."

Birds, flowers, religious and tree motifs are beautiful with microscopic stitches on a linen background. Colors are faded with slight stains as shown.

The custom fine art frame is modern on this traditional folk art antique, said to be French Canadian. Overall size is 19" wide, 11" tall and 1 1/4" deep.
