This style of desk was called a "George Washington" desk after the original, now in the New York City Hall - FDR also had one as president.
Dating from the 1930's, this fine example is signed "H. Herrmann of NYC, Since 1867."
Mahogany with a gleaming finish in excellent condition, there are only minor mars at the edges, see photos. Heavy brass pulls are original on this vintage furniture, drawers have solid oak dovetailed sides. There are letter or document shelves at the ends. Delicate legs are reeded on this sophisticated American made desk.
Size is 56" long, 30" deep, 35" tall, the writing surface is 30" high and the knee hole is 23 1/2" wide and 24" high.
