Hand-carved of walnut about 1930, this grand curio or china display cabinet or back bar has etched panes in the doors.
This antique furniture was crafted for the ante-room before the main dining room of a palazzo, the scene for reception and "antipasto" or appetizers before the main late evening dinner in the larger dining room.
The original warm brown finish is excellent with beautiful patina, hardware and working locks are also original. Stunning artistry is shown in the Rococco shell crest and deeply carved and raised panels. Plate glass shelves adjust on wooden supports, one is a replacement. Side panels are raised, even back legs have detailed carving.
The distinctive design and very fine master craftsmanship originate around wealthy Milan in northern Italy, formerly the Grand Duchy of Piedmont. There is a small warp to the left door, see photos.
This heroic antique furniture measures 42" wide, 20" deep and 82" tall.
