This showcase or display cabinet was rebuilt from a salvage crew dining table from the fabled ship, RMS Queen Mary. Architectural salvage, the table was removed from the ship when it was remodeled into a hotel, berthed at Long Beach, California.
Solid mahogany with a very good finish, a brass inventory tag remains on the base column. Originally the small copper framed black base was bolted to the floor, a second copper clad base was added for stability. The glass top with a screw on lid was added as well.
The ship was built for the Cunard line in 1936 in Scotland, and sailed until 1967, when she was permanently moored and this table was removed and sold for charity.
Measurements are 72" long, 27" deep and 46 1/2" tall, the showcase is 17" high.
